5 MAY 2018:
• The Worcester Section, established in 1893, is the second oldest Section in the country. We are
celebrating our 125th anniversary this year and are thrilled to be hosting the MCSA 2018 Annual Dinner
as part of our celebrations.
• MCSA Annual General Meeting and National Committee meetings will be held at Kirabo, Rawsonville
on Saturday 5 May. Having the Annual Dinner that evening gives the National Committee delegates
from Sections throughout the country the opportunity to attend the National Dinner, which will be
hosted at the same venue.
• Kirabo Private Cellar, nestled against the Du Toitskloof mountains, is a quiet, intimate venue which
provides views of the Worcester mountains which are the focus of the theme of the 2018 National
• Cash bar available.
• 16:30 for 17:00. Let’s start early, otherwise an amazing night catching up with old friends and making
new ones, ends too quickly. Dinner will start around 19:00.
• Travel on the N 1 from Cape Town towards Worcester (through the tunnel) you get to the Weigh
Bridge where you turn right to Rawsonville.

• The dress code “Mountain Smart” says it all. We are a happy, rural section, enjoying relaxing, informal
social interaction with good wine, good ‘boerekos’ and good friends. Few of us possess attire which is
even remotely formal, but will do our best “Mountain Smart”- we invite you to do the same.
• “A Mountaineer’s Paradise” is the title of a booklet, now rare, written by E. Stanley Field and E. G. Pells
as “A Guide to the Mountains of Worcester District, containing directions for reaching over 80 peaks
and brief descriptions of some 200 routes of ascent”. Our speaker will be guided by this theme.
• We will have affordable copies of the booklet available.
• We have booked the camping site Alartsoewer, situated some 3km from the dinner venue, for
overnighting on both Friday 4 May and Saturday 5 May. Cost is R1 00 pp per night. Please book at
erieks@mweb .co .za.
• Two-man tents and sleeping equipment from our ‘Outreach’ store will be available for members
flying in from other parts of the country. Please book these from Erika {no cost).
