The Mountain Club of South Africa recognises that the effects of climate change and the interconnected issues, e.g. biodiversity loss, pollution of all environments, especially the mountains, the increasing severity of droughts and storms, should be very high on the current concerns of all MCSA members.

It is well-established that the continuing pollution by mankind is having a marked exacerbating effect on the naturally occurring global climate change. Policies, practices and decisions by governments, companies and individuals should reflect this.

Since the MCSA Objects in terms of conservation and the protection of the mountain environment declare our concern, we therefore wish to make it clear to all how the Club stands on climate change.

The MCSA takes note of the urgency of the changes needed and will do what it can to help in the restructuring and rethinking of such policies and practices in South Africa.
